iFive:K - We'll run if you bribe us with beer.

Last night, Team SLANT dusted off our running shoes and got some exercise.

Why would we do that, you ask? It was the Charleston Digital Corridor's fourth annual iFive:K, a scenic 6:30pm race from the Charleston Maritime Center to White Point Gardens at the Battery and back again. Followed by pizza, beer and a gorgeous sunset.

SLANT has been a lead sponsor and the creative sponsor of the event from the beginning. We worked with the Charleston Digital Corridor to create the identity of the race, including the event's name, logo, shirts, bib tags, mile markers and finish line signs.

Team SLANT represented the range of possible iFive:K paces: run, walk and shuffle. Our best time was Megan DeCamilla's 27:48. Just think what she could have done on rollerskates (she's on the Lowcountry Highrollers Roller Derby team)!

A link to the REST of our results, you ask? Uh... we lost them.

But we do have fotos. Enjoy!

It's iFive:K time!

When: April 22, 2010 at 6:30p Where: Charleston Maritime Center

Who says SLANT isn't health conscious?

For the 4th year in a row, we are proud to be a lead sponsor for the Innovator's 5K run, also known as the i5k.  Heck – this year we may even try to complete the course!  After all, it is "run•walk•shuffle"...

From the recent press release:

The Charleston Digital Corridor will host its fourth annual iFive:k on April 22, 2010 at 6:30pm.  This year’s event will continue offering runners, walkers and shufflers the popular scenic race route, custom race t-shirts, cool prizes, team opportunities to vie for the coveted “Bragging Rights Trophy” and the much anticipated after-party at the Charleston Maritime Center on the harbor.

Besides the fact that this is always a good time, it also has a good cause.  A portion of the proceeds raised are donated to the Burke Scholarship Fund, specifically to benefit a student seeking higher education in a technology related field.

Registration is open now — click here to sign up online.  And if you see one of us lying face down in the middle of the road during the race, please try not to step on us....

Bullock's Photography Shines

Community leaders and supporters of the Charleston Digital Corridor had surprises in their mailboxes today: the 2009 Corridor Annual Report.  Why is this relevant, you ask?  Well, it just so happens that it featured the fine photography of our very own Will Bullock.

Since The Corridor accidentally used invisible ink when printing the photography credits, we thought we'd give Will our own shout-out.  Seems as though others are noticing, too.  After viewing the Annual Report, Mayor Riley's office called and asked for a copy of the Mayor's portrait used in the report, also taken by Bullock.

Congrats, Will! Now, will you get that lens out of my face, please??  Download your own copy of the Charleston Digital Corridor annual report and enjoy the luscious photography for yourself! You can also take a look at some of Will's other photography work over at his flickr page.

The Charleston Digital Corridor is a creative effort to attract, nurture and promote Charleston's knowledge econony.  Learn more at their website.
