It's Not Nice To Name Names (Unless You're Good At It)

Partners for Active Living (PAL) is a non-profit organization that is transforming Spartanburg County, SC into a vibrant, healthy, connected community.

PAL is fighting cardiovascular disease and obesity within Spartanburg County with a focus on boosting physical activity and improving poor nutrition trends. (So don’t tell them we really enjoy pie, okay?)

So what does this have to do with SLANT? Well, PAL reached out to us for help with their latest project -- naming a new park! Yep, a park. A place where childhood memories are made. Where many of us jumped out of swings, scraped our knees and got our tongues stuck to a frozen pole because of a double-dog dare. Oh, you didn’t do that last one? Um...neither did we...

Code named for the moment as "Forest Ave. Park", this will be way more than just a park. It will be home to a replica trolley, an amphitheatre, misting station, outdoor workout stations, playgrounds and tons of green space. It's a big and exciting investment for the City of Spartanburg so the name is going to be important. Wanting to make sure the name was relevant, memorable and fun, PAL turned to SLANT to guide the process.

The park is expected to open in Spring 2017 along the Mary Black Rail Trail on Forest Street. Check out the plans here and continue to monitor our blog for updates on the park name & signage system designs!

Oh...and we call first dibs on the slide. #first
