PANTONE® 15-5519Pantone, those color matching evil-geniuses, have announced that 2010 shall be the year of Turquoise (more precisely, PANTONE 15-5519). We've come a long way since 2009's color of the year, "Mimosa", which some blamed for the current economic crisis as well as global warming. Plus, there's a whole lot of smart sounding theory as to why turquoise is this year's winner.
From the Pantone Color Institute's press release:
"Combining the serene qualities of blue and the invigorating aspects of green, Turquoise evokes thoughts of soothing, tropical waters and a languorous, effective escape from the everyday troubles of the world, while at the same time restoring our sense of wellbeing."
Though this is intended as a fashion idea, don't be surprised to see slant embrace this color in our brand work this year. Plus, Christopher already has turquoise socks.
